Using a special effect called compositing, we can layer several different video clips to make a single clip. In one of the clips, the subject is filmed in front of a green background. This clip is then digitally superimposed over a 2nd clip. Computer software makes all green pixels transparent, allowing the 2nd clip to show through, as in the example below:
